I’ve been a huge fan of the show from the beginning and I love pretty much everything about it except for the slushies being thrown in the face. Oh wait and the bullying of Kurt by Tweedledee and Tweedledum (those two guys on the football team if you are an advent watcher of the show you already know whom I’m referring to). Other than that I love the show. However there’s is one other thing that needs to be addressed which pertains to the characters of Quinn Fabray, Santana Lopez, and Brittany S. Pierce. Do they have to wear the Cherrios uniform all the dang on time ?
When I was in headed into the 8th grade Murphy High School was featured in the July 1997 issue of Seventeen Magazine as a school of interest. It was noted in the issue with a pic of two cheerleaders that they had a total of 12 uniforms. This was just for the 12 member Varsity squad. Even though the Murphy Squad is does not have the national championship status that the fictional Cheerios does. Am I the only person that finds the fact that they have one uniform style weird. Don’t believe me look below.
We get that Finn Hudson, Noah “Puck” Puckerman, Mike Chang, Sam Evans, and now Artie Abrams are football players. They do not wear their jerseys to reminds us the viewers of this fact every episode. So why Santana and Brittany (I’m excluding Quinn because most people of her sense of her style while she was pregnant but they have since reverted her back to the uniform.) besides their performances with New Directions have to wear that one Cheerios uniform?
From the episodes I’ve watched I can understand that the Cheerios squad is a large one in membership. However as much as their coach Sue Sylvester likes to brag on the following:
- How great the Cheerios squad is under her leadership
- The vast amount of money Sue is able to raise for the squad.
- Her attempts to derail New Directions success out of fear of her funding for the squad being cut.
I know that this show is not supposed to be taken literally but come on do these members of the Cheerios really have a sporting event to cheer at throughout the week at McKinley High? Also in that one uniform. I went to the Cheer Zone’s Custom Uniform maker site, and I’m sure it is not that difficult to create various looks for the Cheerios squad. Besides according to The Seattle Times and Zap 2 It, the wardrobe department for Glee is obviously not spending what I would assume to be the same amount for the wardrobe for the show “Gossip Girl”. Besides the most expensive character on Glee wardrobe wise is Kurt Hummel because of high end labels. If the show took place in the South instead of Lima, Ohio I would imagine the wardrobe would also include the department stores Dillards, Belk, and Bealls.
Since Glee’s costume designer Lou Eyrich’s” work on the show has received recognition I have a couple of ideas for the character development of Santana and Brittany in fashion. (Yes this is vital in any show heck there’s a blog about What Would Emma Pillsbury Wear.)
For her style I would dress her similar to if actress Eva Mendes were attending high school now.
I would dress in from a collection of another famous blonde known for her “interesting quotes” Jessica Simpson.
I’m pretty sure that an extra $20 to $70 dollars on pieces of cheerleading uniforms will not break the budget for Glee anytime soon. Hopefully this will be taken into consideration. Thanks for your time.
P.S. I wonder can General Mills go after the show for trademark infringement of the name Cheerios. Oh nevermind!
